IRIS

How can we express illusion or eagerness?

Excited eagerness causes a state of joy that can be visually translated into a depiction of many colours. Colour is a perceptive property caused by light interacting with our eyes, brain and experiences. In nature we can delight in the optical illusion of a rainbow, when sunlight is split into the seven colours of the visible spectrum. It is a phenomenon that inspires admiration and happiness yet, at the same time, it is an illusion.

Iris is an installation constructed using strips of different materials sorted by colour, the seven colours of the rainbow, and inscribed with messages of hopes and dreams written by pupils from the schools in Tortosa. In addition, the piece is accompanied by the voices of other pupils expressing what they are eager to experience in the future.

We invite you to enjoy the change in perception of the building and to feel the illusion and joy inspired by this explosion of colour.
