Festa Blava

Few moments are more intense than those of a party in today’s society. Few spaces are more festive than those created by food, especially when the neighborhood belongs to you and the neighbors are the main actors. The table is the perfect stage for the culminating moment of intensity; a necessary and provocative object. The space is an open-air room, custom-made for the community.

An artistic object and three temporal moments: a first act where the table presents us with the calm before the storm; a second act where it becomes the main stage of the performative action of the meal and a third act as the chaotic support of the final scene.

Intensity is about contrasts, as is the selection of the color blue for this proposal. The unanimity of tones and the precise composition of elements lend quality to the whole. Just as one dresses in the finest clothes for an important event, this table and its diners adorn the Franquet passage with the Festa blava (Blue Party).

THE AUTHORS

Elías Barczuk, from Posadas, is an architect from UCSF (Argentina). He is a lecturer and a doctoral candidate in the Department of Architectural Projects at ETSAB-UPC (Barcelona). He is an independent professional specializing in urban consultancy and a researcher with the HABITAR group.

Samuel Laguarta, from Igualada, trained as an architect at the ETSAB-UPC (Barcelona). He has collaborated with offices such as Ensenyat-Tarrida architects, Flores & Prats studio, IM+ ARQUITECTES, and the firm MMEC in Spokane, USA. He has participated in workshops in Morocco and in various festivals such as Llum Barcelona, Lluèrnia, and La Biennale di Venezia.

They met each other in the classrooms of the Barcelona School of Architecture while pursuing the Master’s in Advanced Studies MBArch under Xavier Monteys. They have been working together since 2017, combining architectural practice with education.
