The courtyard, with its large dimensions, vivid colors, numerous columns, and countless details and corners; the rock and man, all humbly submit to nature. A tree, which rises silently, gives life and purpose to the courtyard. The essence of this architecture is to orient itself towards this glorified element. The authors sought to translate this idea into the language of human signs, intensifying the plant even more and undeniably so. They aim to turn the space into a comic strip and decontextualize everyday signs from their conventional scale, immersing us in a whirlwind of arrows that forces us to notice the beauty of something as simple as a plant, which we might overlook in our daily walks, and give it the importance it deserves.

The intensity of the space grows as all the energy is directed towards this tree, creating a conceptual juxtaposition.

THE AUTHORS

Gonzalo Álvarez, Lucas Jiménez, Pedro León, and Pablo Martínez are four architecture students passionate about ephemeral installations. They started as a team in 2020, eager to turn their ideas into reality. This year, they embarked on an adventure, bringing one of their proposals to life at the Casa Decor 2024 event in Madrid, representing the Ceu San Pablo University.

They believe that our world needs quality spaces, spaces of change and mutability, that offer citizens a perspective away from the conventionality of their city. Their mission is to temporarily transform public and private spaces, creating unique and memorable experiences that invite reflection, interaction, and enjoyment. They aim to challenge the limits of traditional architecture by exploring new forms, materials, and technologies that allow for the reinvention of urban and natural environments. Moreover, they are convinced that ephemeral installations can transform the perception of places and people.
